Black Widow

Black widow is a Sativa dominant hybrid cross of a Brazilian Sativa and a South Indian Indica, selected and bred by veteran breeder, Shantibaba. This strain has the same genetics as the original legendary White Widow. The reason for the change of name is due to the fact that although Shantibaba made White Widow while working at Greenhouse Seeds, he did not own the rights to the name. Having left Greenhouse Seeds and taking the White Widow genetics with him to Mr. Nice Seeds, he decided to release White Widow under the new name of Black Widow. According to Shantibaba, the Brazilian used in this cross was a Manga Rosa landrace which he obtained from a Brazilian friend while traveling through Tayrona, a mountainous region close to Santa Marta.

TASTE & SMELL –

Black Widow has a sweet tropical fruity odor with slight floral hints of spicy pine. Once blazed, her smoke has a fruity edge with a sweet, piney back end.

EFFECTS –

This strain offers a potent soaring head high with some physical effects. Smokers can expect a racy onset with uplifting and motivational qualities combined with a tingling body buzz. Her powerful high has no ceiling and can induce more of a sleepy sedative experience when over consumed.

MEDICAL USES –

Medically, her uplifting qualities have been used to aid those suffering from stress, depression and anxiety. She has also been known to help induce appetite and benefit people with eating disorders.

Black Widow is a relatively easy plant to grow and popular with hobby and commercial growers alike. This stretchy variety will double in size once flipped to the flowering cycle and has the potential to yield up to 16 ounces per square meter when grown indoors. Her attributes make her an ideal candidate for the Sea of Green cultivation method. Periodic pruning is advised as Black Widow’s dense structure leaves her prone to mold issues.
