Trainwreck is a Sativa leaning hybrid that originated back in the 80s from Arcata Humboldt County in Northern California. Her original breeder remains unknown. Online consensus would suggest that she is a 3-way cross of landrace genetics originating from Thailand, Mexico and Afghanistan, resulting in the E-32 Trainwreck Elite Clone that created all the hype. E-32 standing for E, 32nd rotation. It is widely assumed the name “Trainwreck” is a direct reference to this strain’s effects.

TASTE & SMELL –

Trainwreck buds have a spicy aroma of citrus and pepper. She tastes both sweet and spicy, combining a blend of lemony, piney and earthy flavors.

EFFECTS –

This strain makes for a potent smoke, hitting hard and fast, inducing a heavy body stone and trippy cerebral effects. Her onset can be intense with some comparing her head high to a mental rollercoaster. These intense cerebral effects later give way for a more distant and spacy headspace and makes for a more euphoric and happy high. Additionally, her mellowing body qualities can induce a body-melt experience despite being mainly Sativa.

MEDICAL USES –

Medically, Trainwreck is known to be beneficial in helping to reduce inflammation and alleviating the negative symptoms associated with headaches and migraines.

GROW INFO –

Trainwreck is considered relatively easy to cultivate. She grows tall with a typical Sativa structure, displaying vine-like growth, stretchy branching and long thin leaves. Her buds are large, resinous and quite dense for a Sativa leaner. This vigorous strain takes well to both indoor and outdoor cultivation, ultimately preferring dry, warm to temperate Mediterranean-like conditions. She has an indoor flowering period of seven to nine weeks and is ready for harvest by late October when grown outdoors in the Northern Hemisphere. Her growing traits make her suitable for super cropping, especially in conjunction with the Scrog method of cultivation for increased yields.

SEED AVAILABILITY –

For those wishing to acquire Trainwreck genetics, it should be noted that this is a clone-only strain. However, there are numerous crosses from various reputable breeders that are readily available from verified online vendors. For future reference, Mr. Bob Hemphill is currently working on a backcross Trainwreck project using Trainwreck x Trainwreck/A5 haze. Currently at the F2 stage and continuing the line to F3 in the hopes of eliminating hermaphroditic tendencies and stabilizing the line.
