Afgooey, also known as Afgoo is a clone-only Indica dominant strain that was originally developed in Northern California in the 1980s during the prohibition. The strain itself is a cross of Hawaiian Haze and Afghani. This hybridized cross imparts the heavy resin gland production of the Afghani and the branchier more open structure of the Hawaiian Haze.
TASTE & SMELL –
The aromas are typical of an Indica, dominated by pungent, earthy, hashy, pine notes with a light tropical fruity back end inherited from the Hawaiian Haze.
EFFECTS –
The effects of Afgooey are primarily sedative and hunger-inducing. However, the Sativa side gives a nice “Head High” and stops it from being a total ”couch-lock” buzz.
MEDICAL USES –
A well-balanced enjoyable high, Afgooey is good for meditative and contemplative thought, relieving aches and pains and regaining appetite.
GROW INFO –
Afgooey is a moderately easy plant to grow, requiring minimal pruning, a good appetite for nutrients and is a hard strain to overfeed. These plants can really be pumped up! Afgooey leans more to the Indica side, expect short to medium plants with large compact pear-shaped olive green buds. A premium finished product producing yields on the higher side of average THC % of between 14% and 28%. These results are well within the grasp of even the most novice grower.
SEED AVAILABILITY –
The clone-only version of this strain has been accessible in growers circles in North America for nearly forty years. It can still be found in clone form and crosses have been released by various breeders. As an older strain, it is definitely not one seen often in the legal commercial market of today. Greenhouse Seeds have attempted to recreate Afgooey in seed form. The general feedback would seem to imply that their Afgooey seed is an adequate reflection of the clone version. For solid representations and worked lines with genuine Afgooey genetics, breeder of note is Gooey Breeder. He has worked and owned the Afgooey clone for over thirty years.
