Bubba Kush most commonly referred to as the “Pre 98” is a strain that really needs no introduction. She has permeated cannabis culture and is one of the most well-known strains out there. Her genetic makeup is believed to be OG Kush 92 x Bubba and her creation the result of an accidental pollination to the OG Kush 92 from a hermaphrodite flower belonging to a Northern Lights cut named Bubba. There are multiple cuts of Bubba Kush and that can sometimes lead to confusion. The main two are the ”Pre 98 Bubba” and the ”Katsu” cut of Bubba. These are followed by several lesser-known cuts such as the Mint Bubba and the Purple Bubba, all thought to have originated from bag seed.
The Katsu Bubba is also generally thought to have originated from bag seed and gets its name from when a forum member named Katsu purchased a cut for good money only to be told after the sale that he wasn’t allowed to share it. Not happy with this, Katsu decided to share the cut freely with pretty much anyone who wanted it, with the added provision that they share it too. And so the “Katsu” cut of Bubba Kush was born.

Medically she has been known to be of benefit in aiding those suffering from stress, depression and pain. Her ability to help those with eating disorders and nausea has also been noted.
GROW INFO –
Bubba Kush is regarded as a fairly easy strain to grow but has a notoriously long veg time that can be off-putting for some. She is not a large plant and grows squat with large fan leaves and tight internode spacing. Her buds are tight and bulbous and grow in a typical Kush golf ball-shaped fashion. Depending on the cut she can exhibit a variety of colors ranging from black/blue, purple and green. Her flowering cycle runs from eight to ten weeks and she shows good resilience to bugs and mold. Furthermore, male Bubba Kush plants are known for heavy pollen production and are a great choice for breeding projects and seed production.
SEED AVAILABILITY –
Those wishing to acquire Bubba Kush genetics should note that this is a clone-only strain. However, such is the prominence and commercial pull of Bubba Kush, untold crosses have been made with her by reputable breeders that are readily available. One breeder of note is Katsu Bluebird who specializes pretty much exclusively with the Bubba.
