UBC Chemo or just Chemo for short is a pure 100% Indica strain with unknown lineage. She was developed at the University of British Columbia by Dr. David Suzuki back in the 1970s. This award-winning strain was created with the intention of helping cancer patients combat the negative side effects of chemotherapy.
TASTE & SMELL –
Her buds carry a pungent earthy aroma with hints of pine. She also tastes earthy and piney combined with sweet floral-like flavors.
EFFECTS –
UBC Chemo offers the typical heavy Indica experience, with strong sedative effects and a creeping light-headed high that’s far from paranoia-inducing. Partaking in this potent Indica can sometimes lead to an overall hungry, lazy and super sleepy session.
MEDICAL USES –
As previously mentioned, this strain was developed specifically to treat common side-effects associated with chemotherapy such as loss of appetite, nausea and general pain.
GROW INFO –
UBC Chemo is considered a relatively easy plant to cultivate, taking well to both indoors and out. She grows medium-height with a unique bonsai-like appearance and large wide leaves that are dark green. UBC Chemo has an indoor flowering cycle ranging from eight to nine weeks and is ready for harvest by October when grown outdoors in the Northern Hemisphere. Additionally, this strain shows strong natural resilience to molds. For increased yields, this strain is very adaptable to the Sea of Green method of cultivation.
SEED AVAILABILITY –
For those wishing to acquire UBC Chemo genetics, it should be noted that she is clone-only, although several breeders/seedbanks have reproduced/recreated stabilized versions of this strain. As always, when procuring plants or seeds we recommend checking the provenance and reputation of seller. As the saying goes, If it’s too good to be true, it probably is!
