Gelato is a clone-only strain that was created by Sherbinski of the Cookie Fam. This strain is a cross of two elite clones, Sunset Sherbet and Thin Mint Girl Scout Cookies. There are a few variant phenotypes of this strain. They are denoted by the number that was given to them in the original breeding program. Sherbinski has noted that the plants produced by this cross varied in their traits but all were of exceptionally high quality. The Gelato’s #25, #33(Larry Bird), #41 (Bacio Gelato) and #45 being of particular note due to their popularity.
TASTE & SMELL –
Gelato has an odor profile that ranges depending on phenotype but generally tends to be a blend of traits inherited from the fruity Sunset Sherbet and the more earthy and doughy Girl Scout Cookies. Her smoke, although thick and plentiful is smooth and light on the palate.
EFFECTS –
Gelato is high strength cannabis variety that gives an instant head tingling high that leads to a relaxing, calming and sedative body buzz.
MEDICAL USES –
Her narcotic qualities are good for aiding those who suffer from chronic pain, migraines or stress.
GROW INFO –
Gelato has a reputation for being an especially finicky plant to grow and is probably best left to growers of a certain skill level. Gelato #33 also known as “Larry Bird”, is the most popular and common of the phenotypes. Her buds are smallish and dense, with bright orange pistils set against verdant green, making the buds very eye-catching. Late in flower, she will develop purple hues if the temperature is dropped. Yields will vary from pheno to pheno but overall she is not noted for high yields and is regarded as more of a strain that is grown for her elite traits rather than weight.
SEED AVAILABILITY –
This strain regardless of the number is a clone-only strain. Anyone seeking Gelato genetics will need to obtain a clone from a verified source. Alternatively, there are many crosses out there containing Gelato genetics. Seed Junky Genetics also released an S1 version of the Gelato #33 some years back.
