When people talk about Afghani they are usually referencing the typical stout broad leaf homogenous variety of heirloom Indica Hash plant that hails from that part of the world. Afghan #1 is a textbook example of this type of cannabis. Cultivated over many generations by farmers in Afghanistan, the plants are uniform in appearance creating short to medium conical, Christmas tree-shaped bushes. Large oily resinous buds prized in the manufacturing of hashish are a common feature. Unless topped the plant will present itself with one large central cola. Its side branches are evenly spaced out with golf ball shaped nugs protruding from every node.

TASTE & SMELL –

The earthy, hashy, funky notes that enimate from Afghan #1 and the heavy lingering smoke are hallmarks of the Afghani Hash Plant.

EFFECTS –

High THC levels and a narcotic encompassing body buzz, many smokers will find themselves with heavy eyelids and feeling hungry.

MEDICAL USES –

Generally, Afghani strains have been linked medically with the benefits commonly associated with Indica strains. Recommended for insomnia, nausea, pain relief and loss of appetite.

GROW INFO –

Afghani is an easy plant to grow. Its compact uniform stature and short flowering period averaging under 55 days makes it attractive to commercial and hobby growers alike. A tough thick plant she will flourish if basic needs are attended to. A Little pruning of the inner canopy and leaf tucking the larger fan leaves to shed light on bud sites will increase yields. Grown outdoors for centuries in Afghanistan this short flowering Indica will do well in areas where two months of good sunshine can be guaranteed. Be vigilant for mold and bud rot.

SEED AVAILABILITY –

For those wishing to acquire Afghani genetics, there are many choices to choose from. Afghani genetics permeate today’s market with many elite strains that can trace part of their heritage back to them. A good starting point is Sensi Seeds who offer an Afghani #1 that is a quick finisher, good yielder and a fair representation of Afghani Broad Leaf Indica. Many hybrid crosses can be found made from elite cuts of Afghani Indicas and are well worth searching out for. Breeders of note are Mr.Nice Seeds and Bodhi seeds.
